Objective
To determine if recent sclerotinia insensitivity to fungicide could be related to fungicide resistance or inadequate spray coverage.
Project Description
Last summer ECRF established the canola disease demonstration for MOA and SaskCanola training. In that demonstration treatments were sprayed with one and two sequential applications of Dyax (group 11 & 7). Despite the high level of sclerotinia, no visual or yield benefit from spraying the fungicide was observed. The lack of fungicidal efficacy could be due to sclerotinia insensitivity or in adequate coverage with fungicide to name a few. Sclerotia from the trial site have been sent to Dwayne Hegedus to determine if any sclerotinia insensitivity can be detected to groups 3, 7 and 11. In the meantime, this project hopes to determine if any efficacy differences between fungicides representing the major groups in use can be observed. In addition, the benefit of coverage and canopy penetration using water sensitive paper will be demonstrated and related to any observed differences in product efficacy.
